Major Reasons to use MUMS
for Strike
Checks
|
1.
MUMS is the CWA endorsed Membership software to accomplish CWA
goals outlined in the CWA Triangle of Organizing – Representation and
Political Action. MUMS assists
the Local in gathering, storing and use of the data found on the Striker
Certification Form DFR-1; such as, ssn, name, address, employer, work
location, and contact numbers and email information. 2.
70% to 80% of the members within the bargaining unit are served by
the Locals who have MUMS, therefore the Locals and the District have a
uniform way to deliver resources to accomplish getting the Member Relief
money into the hands of the members. 3.
Strike Check Preparedness training is provided from the S/T
office as a free “on-line Web based” telephone conference call
resource to the Locals. It is
a series of 3 different classes over a 3 week period.
Each class is approximately 1 hour long and will be offered 4 times
within the week at convenient times for the Local officer(s) or strike
captain(s) to attend from where ever they have access to a computer. 4.
MUMS prints both the Member Relief Fund and the Defense Fund
in “Laser style” checks Sortable
in either Alphabetical or by Work Location order.

MUMS assists with the end of year 7.
MUMS Strike Check Processing has many resources all ready
developed. Strike Check Processing Manual, the 38 Power-Point slides, MUMS
Frequently Asked and Answer Questions, check ordering resources and free
telephone MUMS support before – during – and after the Strike action
are some. These are in
addition to CWA HQ provided manuals called “A Local Officer’s Guide to
the CWA Defense Fund and Members’ Relief Fund …CWA on Strike” and
the other called “Defense Fund and Members’ Relief Fund ..Rules and
Ground Rules”. 8.
Yes, a Local can use other methods to produce their Member
Relief Fund Checks, but that normally means they have to enter all the
information into their Excel or Quick Books.
